Nursing services:N Street Village is a non-profit organization responding to the needs of homeless women who may also be affected my psychiatric and addiction problems. N Street Village provides transitional housing, day care, and night shelter. We also have a job training program as well as a residential therapeutic community of 12-14 women in addiction recovery. The N Street Village Wellness Center offer is a variety of services including the following: free dental and eye clinic, chiropractic, body massage, Reiki, dance, Yogi Nidra, acupuncture. Additional group activities include: anger management; music, and various health prevention/promotion classes. Clients also come to “one-on-one” wellness visits with the RN. An interested volunteer nurse (licensed in DC) would be welcome “to come and see” what we are doing here and consider leading one of our group health initiatives and/or contribute ideas in developing a curriculum for one of the group classes we are currently developing: e.g. smoking cessation; hypertension management education.
