| Nursing services: | Oasis of Hope Center is a faith-based response to the increasing health care crisis. Founded in 2005, we opened our doors one year ago, April 30, 2007. Our mission is to: "Provide hope through low cost/free medical care and basic skills education to the economically disadvantaged and uninsured of the west side of Grand Rapids, MI, in Jesus name". Anyone working here must profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. You cannot provide hope... in Jesus name if you don't know Him. We have many opportunities for nurses, depending on their skill level. We have a faith community nurse who goes as our representative into the community, we also utilize Nurse Practitioners as providers in the clinic, - we are transitioning to a "nurse triage" office and education position for RN's who volunteer. LPN's, MA's and CNA's are utilized to assist in vital signs, simple lab tests and patient histories. Everyone working in this clinic is volunteer and at the end of this month we will be covered by the Federal Torte Act for malpractice as well as the current coverage we have under the Michigan Good Samaritan Act and the Volunteer Protection Act. We offer our services free of charge and do not provide care to any insured persons, including those with Medicaid or Medicare. Our target are the people who make too much money to qualify for Medicaid because they are working, but perhaps are working a couple of part time jobs or are not offered health care in their job. So financially, they must make less than twice Federal Poverty guidelines. |
