Project HANDS works among the most impoverished indigenous Maya in the rural regions of Guatemala. Our projects are aimed at improving the quality of rural Mayan life by providing healthcare, education and family support. Because the Maya have little or no access to medical care, we send medical teams to run outreach clinics, and surgical teams to perform elective surgery. As an extension to our idea of bringing surgery to the patients, we are working on a long term project to build a small surgical facility in a rural area.
Current RN license, PACU, pubic health, general nursing, gynecology or international health experience would be assets to the team.
