This was my first mission, and I was amazed by how many people we were able to serve. I think there were around 40 of us, and we cared for over 2,000 patients. There were also many local volunteers who helped by sleeping with our supplies overnight, cleaning bathrooms, etc. Many patients had to travel long distances and wait in line for hours to receive care, and they were patient and cheerful. Since I am a nurse as well as a Certified Medical Spanish Interpreter, I was able to help with triage, provide direct patient care, and interpret for other, non-Spanish speaking as well as non-English speaking providers. One Nurse at a Time made it possible for me to do this with your financial assistance, and I am very grateful!
