Nursing services: | We are a 501(c)(3) organization, whose program fees are tax deductible for US nurses. Nurses may be involved with direct patient care such as prenatal care, giving injections, starting IVs, drawing blood samples, IV starts and, therapy support, working in the labor or burn wards. There is a wide range of work and cases depending on the country. In Africa the wide variety of cases include malaria, HIV/Aids, tuberculosis and syphilis, as well as childbirth/maternity needs are most common. These are challenging projects and the need in these countries is extremely high for international assistance. Volunteers are provided meals and accommodations either in a local host family, hostel, or shared volunteer residence. Our ABV in-country coordinator arranges airport transfers on arrival and departure, provides city introduction and 24/7 support while the volunteer is in country. Requirements: | Nurses must submit copy of their nursing credentials, nursing students must provide university letter verifying enrollment. For placements in South America, volunteers should be proficient in Spanish. Prior experience abroad not necessary, all levels of expertise are appreciated and project placement is confirmed accordingly |
