Health Frontiers has worked with the Lao University of Health Sciences and the Lao Ministry of Health for 25 years to improve health of the Lao people by developing and implementing post graduate training programs. HF has supported Pediatric Residency Training in Laos since 1997, and Internal Medicine Residency Training since 2002. To date the two training programs have graduated 98 Lao pediatricians and 79 Lao internists. The university is also looking into starting its very first Emergency Medicine training program, with this the interest in nursing side of the education grew, the volunteers will give lectures accompanied by skills lab. Lectures and skills are in english with lao translations and translators. the date of the conference changes every year.
CV (resume) and professional credentials are required in advance – normally at least 3 months. English is understood by many medical staff; French by the older generation or those who have studied abroad; ideal if Lao or Hmong speaker is in the group, but not necessary.
