Nursing services: | Midwives For Haiti is a 501(c)3 non profit organization. Our mission: Reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in Haiti by teaching midwifery skills. Enhance maternal health by providing regular prenatal and postnatal care, including preventative services by training midwives. Provide safe, clean places for women to give birth. Incorporate care of the newborn, vaccines, dehydration treatment and prevention along with breastfeeding support with maternal care. |
Requirements: | All volunteers must have an current and valid license to practice and may only perform procedures in Haiti that fall under that license. We accept volunteers with CNM, CPM, MD (OB/GYN), RM, or LM credentials. Volunteers are accepted on a case by case basis through our application and interview process. |
Cost: | Costs incurred by the volunteer include a $650 per week program fee, plus the cost of airfare to/from Port Au Prince, Haiti. |
