Yetebon is located in a rural farming area of Ethiopia where the closest area for shopping and restaurants is a small town called Butijira – nearly 7 miles away. The main mode of transportation is walking; however, there are some donkey carts (taxis). Yetebon, Ethiopia – a very impoverished area in southeastern Ethiopia. We have a 54-bed diagnostic hospital that consists of a pediatric ward, maternity ward, surgery center, laboratory, dentist office, and outpatient treatment area. The national language is Amharic. Most of our medical staff also speaks English. It is important to remember that you would be helping within a country whose medical laws and practices may differ in some ways from our USA teachings. It is highly recommended that anyone desiring to volunteer with Project Mercy, go to our website to become acquainted with us and the people we are working with, helping, and serving.
