My name is Jessica Robbins. I have been a nurse for 10 years this month! I’ve been doing labor and delivery for about 9.5 years and have loved every moment of it. I have been married for 10 years and have 6 children ranging in ages from 4 to 23, 3 girls and 3 boys. My Grandmother lives with us and I help care for her as well.
Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted to do volunteer work. The timing was never right though due to my obligations to my family. Through my coworker, Emily Scott, I got to see what work she was doing and I became very envious. She invited me to attend a mission with her to Haiti last year and without any hesitation, I said yes! I have never looked back. I am very excited to lead my first team and show them what humanitarian work is all about. How rewarding it can be. When I went to Haiti, I had one goal, to change the outcome of just one family. If one woman or newborn’s life could be saved by the skills I possess, then my time away from my family would be worth it. Well while I was there, I saved three lives. I can’t wait to go back and hopefully save some more. I also hope I can teach the local midwives my lifesaving skills.
My name is Alison Nordlander and I currently resides in Destin, FL with my husband after 4 years of activity duty service in the Air Force. I attended Baylor University- Louise Herrington School of Nursing and graduated in 2013 with my BSN. I have always had a strong desire to serve on medical missions and am so excited to have to opportunity to work directly with Midwives for Haiti. I am also very grateful that One Nurse has gracious given methis opportunity to participate as a Jo’s Nurse and make my dreams of medical missionary work come true!
I’ve been an OB nurse for six years, starting my career in Michigan and moving to Seattle three years ago. I love exploring the mountains, the city, and everything in between. I spend a lot of time with my dog, Finn, on my days off work. I like to run, spend time with friends and find new places to travel to. I’m excited to go on my first trip as a nurse, and to meet a new group of people!
