As a child, my family thought it was important for us to travel as much as possible. I was able to see much of the U.S. and Europe, but saw little of the needs of the rest of the world. As an adult I have come to realize how lucky I have been and how much I need to give back to my community and to the world.
In addition to working full time as a Trauma Specialist, I have the privilege to serve in an administrative capacity for One Nurse At A Time. I cannot express how much I enjoy reading about the work being done around the world by volunteers. I love helping nurses reach their dream of going on a mission to help those in need of medical care, that would not receive it otherwise. Every organization I read about in our directory, and every scholarship nurse report I read, makes me want to go on a mission trip as well.
I was fortunate to go on my first medical mission to Belize in 2014. I had the opportunity to see first-hand the needs of the world and the difference made by nurse volunteers.
